Sync and Cloud: Where are messages stored?

I thoguth the db and attachments were all in /Users/***/Library/Messages but check the dates...not sure anymore. Issue is, testing on iphone,ipad for some new apps we devloped and turned on sync and messages in the cloud. Deleted stuff on ipad as i often do and realzied it took everything off the Mac which I didnt' want. Hoping to recover some.
