iCloud Desktop and Documents sync not starting?

Anyone hit this or, better yet, managed to coax it to life?


It seems upgraded Sierra machines keep the Desktop and Document sync ticking but clean High Sierra installs I can't get to start fetching things. The rest of iCloud seems to work fine.

I had no trouble with a fresh install syncing everything. In fact, it even synced a cache of my Photos library, even though I haven't yet used the Photos app. I'm kind of putting that one off, as I don't want an irreversible migration of my only copy of my main photos library, in case I need to go back to my existing installation.


I'm not upgrading my existing installation to High Sierra either until the GM, or something forces my hand.

Well, it just started running for me as of about 30 minutes ago with no intervention, on two computers on separate networks.


I'm inclined to think this might have been on Apple but one of those machines has been sitting for nearly 24 hours at that point.
