How do I view output from "print" statements?

I am an experienced programmer with 50+ years experience. I am now learning Swift so I can teach it to middle-school students

I am a recognized expert in C++ (fifteen years a Microsoft MVP in the C++/Windows/MFC area) so Swift did not seem to pose any problems. But when I see unexpected behavior, I tend to add debug-print statements. But I cannot discover where the output is going. The documentation is remarkably silent on this topic.

So how can I see it?

I meant to add: I am using the very latest Swift app on an iPad 2 under iOS 10. There seems to be no way to edit the content after it is posted.

Any luck with this one? I'm trying to debug some bluetooth stuff using the iPad playgrounds app and it's driving me crazy... like stumbling around in the dark, grrrr...
