The elephant on my Touch Bar Dev

From Xcode 8.1:

Note: To develop apps that use Touch Bar, you must run Xcode 8.1 on macOS 10.12.1 build 12B2657 or later. If you want to develop for Touch Bar, check your macOS build number using the system's About This Mac dialog. If you do not have macOS 12B2657 or later, install the macOS Sierra 10.12.1 Update from https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1897.

10.12.1 was 12B2555

So is there a pending 12.2.2 build, a misprint, etc? Also, KB link.. 404s.

I know.. bleeding edge for a dev who learnt about it today.

Thanks.

What a mess (those links work for me, but they don't help clear things up)...

Just to confirm, have you been able to dev TB apps on your install of 10.12.1 ~ b# 12B2555 or not?

The general release of 10.12.1 the other day was 12B2555. But it looks like the new Macbook Pros are shipping with 12B2657. It's pretty typical for Apple to ship a different build for new hardware. I assume the installer found on the page you linked to is for 12B2657. You might as well try installing it and finding out.

I doubt they'll push 12B2657 out via Software Update. If the only difference is Touch Bar support, the only people who need it are people running the new hardware (who will have it preinstalled) and developers who want to test it in Xcode. The latter are presumably capable of downloading and running this installer.

The situation is confusing, I admit. It seems like they should have just pushed 12B2657 out to users rather than 12B2555. I assume they were trying to avoid spoiling their Touch Bar announcement, but people found Touch Bar images in 12B2555 anyway, so they failed at that.

So where do we find 12B267? The developer site offers only 12B255...

Say what?

The only thing the dev site/downloads page offers since this time yesterday is a link to the webpage for/to the MAS, which now has the new version macOS 10.12.1 / 12B2657
