If iAd is discontinued to developers, how will they make money on free apps?

It's already discontinued. You have to use a third party ad SDK and hope they don't lace your binary with malware. Or stop making free apps. A shame they couldn't make iAd work.

The other alternative is for you to to use In-App purchases, or as previously mentioned use a third party SDK. It'll be interesting now with the new subscription pricing too though 🙂
