Weird font certificate issue in Safari after update to iOS 9.3.5

Hello,

We are encountering a really strange certificate issue in our website, in which we use some Google font and js assets.

The following error shows up to one of our iOS devices that we’ve recently updated to iOS 9.3.5 in our website but even when we visit google.de(!!!!).

https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Roboto+Condensed:400,700,300

Failed to load resource: The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “fonts.googleapis.com” which could put your confidential information at risk.

Is this a known Safari issue?

Have been getting this occasionally on an ipad in household running ios 10.0.1

Will randomly decide that it doesn't want to load the style or js for cnn.com because of issue with SSL and shows this in console when hook up to desktop:

Failed to load resource: The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "www.i.cdn.cnn.com" which could put your confidential information at risk.

Also happens on another website wlwt.com which is one of our local news stations.

Only thing to resolve it so far is quitting mobile safari via the app switcher, or rebooting the ipad. Happens several times a day.

Tried on wifi or cellular data to rule out dns issues. No other devices in the household had this issue.

This SSL checker explains that this could be an issue with the SSL. This just didn't happen before the ios 10 upgrade though.
