Re: Pulse Secure not working
meredith_corp Jun 15, 2016 3:21 PM (in response to ckg1999)I'm seeing that as well with Pulse Secure 5.2.1 (227).
I had saved servers and those showed up in the menu. I could start a connection to a VPN site, enter my credentials, etc. But when it got to the point of starting a secure connection the configurations disappeared and I can't add any more back in and the ones I had saved are not listed.
There are a bunch of crash reports in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ for the process dsAccessService which is kicked off by the LaunchDaemon /Library/LaunchDaemons/net.pulsesecure.AccessService.plist. Running the command the LD uses maunally as root results in a segmentation fault: 11. Seems to be a code issue in that backend service.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
tylerpenn Jun 17, 2016 1:09 PM (in response to ckg1999)I'm in the same boat with 10.12 running Pulse Secure v5.1.9
This same thing happened during the 10.11 beta but there was a workaround then that involved adding two certs to the System keychain and changing the trust. Unfortunately that trick doesn't work this time around.
Here is the workaround from last year for reference

Re: Pulse Secure not working
kcft Jun 17, 2016 6:06 PM (in response to ckg1999)Same problem, with my iMac and macbook running Sierra. Interesting that it not only fails but it deletes the configuration completely as meredith_corp says.
-
Re: Pulse Secure not working
meredith_corp Jun 20, 2016 5:53 PM (in response to kcft)It doesn't actually delete the configuration as the files are still present in /Library/Application\ Support/Pulse\ Secure/Pulse and opening them up shows that the config data is still there. It's just that the backend process that reads them is crashing so they don't show up in the menu.
I've asked my Pulse admin to see if he can download version 5.0.3 to test that theory.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
Genesis Jun 19, 2016 12:26 PM (in response to ckg1999)Issue is present with latest beta of Pulse Secure 5.2r3.0-b537. Only workaround so far seems to be installing VMware Fusion and downgrading to lesser version of MacOS or Windows 10 and VPN from that session.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
ckg1999 Jun 20, 2016 5:37 AM (in response to Genesis)In an interesting turn, I got it to work on Pulse 5.0.3. Not sure what the change is...

Re: Pulse Secure not working
meredith_corp Jun 21, 2016 6:09 AM (in response to ckg1999)I installed 5.0.3 and it's working fine here, too.
Good enough for now but keep filing the bugs.

kcft Jun 20, 2016 3:41 PM (in response to ckg1999)Thanks for the info! Do you know where can I find the 5.0.3 download?
-
Re: Pulse Secure not working
jakecast Jun 20, 2016 6:59 PM (in response to kcft)I found a copy of 5.0.3 on the pulse forums..
https://www.net.usf.edu/vpn/MacOS/JunosPulse.dmg
Its a bit buggy, but certainly works better than using current 5.2.1 which fails constantly.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
tdm00 Jul 9, 2016 7:36 AM (in response to jakecast)This worked correctly for me, thanks for posting this. FYI the MD5 of the Pulse 5.0.3 download is 9381eb1859ac325469edc2258c0f6d38

Re: Pulse Secure not working
kcft Jun 21, 2016 7:13 AM (in response to kcft)Anyone has a tip on where to find 5.0.3? I already tried through Pulse Secure Support and they tell me to contact my IT dept. But my IT dept just brushes me off because they will let me use pulse in my personal mac but they do not offer support.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
jakecast Jun 21, 2016 10:10 AM (in response to kcft)I tried posting a link to 5.0.3, but it is stuck in moderation.
If you search google 'MD5 Hash for Junos Pulse 5.0.3' there is a link the the juniper pulse web forums with a link to 5.0.3 a few comments down..
Its a bit buggy, but certainly works better than using current 5.2.1 which fails constantly.

asemak Jun 23, 2016 3:00 AM (in response to jakecast)Worked for me. Thanks for the tip.
-
Re: Pulse Secure not working
asemak Jun 27, 2016 2:52 AM (in response to asemak)After a reboot, Pulse encountered the same issues as it did with with 5.1 and 5.2. Unable to connect and the connection configuration removed.
-
Re: Pulse Secure not working
kgmessier Jul 6, 2016 3:01 AM (in response to asemak)Yup, same here. The annoying workaround I used was to trash the app and reinstall; my configurations were preserved.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
brk Jul 5, 2016 2:08 PM (in response to chris.blessing)Has anyone tested Pulse Secure with beta 2 yet?
-
Re: Pulse Secure not working
kcft Jul 5, 2016 3:31 PM (in response to brk)Yes, I tried. Same results as beta 1: Pulse secure does not work, Junos Pulse 5.0.3 does.
-
Re: Pulse Secure not working
kgmessier Jul 5, 2016 3:36 PM (in response to kcft)I'm finding the same results as kcft.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
Tranceme Jul 10, 2016 3:54 PM (in response to kgmessier)I tested up to 5.0.15 and this works. Seems like anything higher than this breaks. Like 5.1 and higher.
Also, sometimes after rebooting, I lose my settings. I just re-install 5.0.15 again and it works. Not a huge deal since I just install right over the same one.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
Williamfromsomerville Jul 11, 2016 4:54 PM (in response to chris.blessing)Same, I'm telling security to open anyway, but the OS is telling me it's not from the App store. It will not override.
-
Re: Pulse Secure not working
Williamfromsomerville Jul 11, 2016 5:02 PM (in response to chris.blessing)if you cant get past gatekeeper, i did this succesfully.
Apps from unidentified developers can normally be opened by clicking the "Open Anyway" button in System Preferences > Security & Privacy, but the macOS Sierra release notes indicate that this button does not work in the first beta. A workaround solution is to hold down the Control key, click on an application, and choose "open."

Re: Pulse Secure not working
Svanascini Jul 8, 2016 12:08 PM (in response to ckg1999)For me is a totally different thing, the app seems to be working properly, but cannot connect because I get the following error even if my Firewall is turned on:
Your computer's security is unsatisfactory

Is there a workaround for this?

Re: Pulse Secure not working
IPv6Freely Aug 14, 2016 6:04 PM (in response to Svanascini)Pulse Secure's host checker doesn't recognize the firewall on macOS 10.12, so it's failing. Not much you can do besides ask your administrator to disable hostcheck for your realm (or a special realm for macOS beta users?)

Re: Pulse Secure not working
kcft Jul 29, 2016 4:21 PM (in response to ckg1999)I found this link in the pulse secure support website:
It suggests they are already working on it and there may be a beta version available. I do not have a support account since I am just a user from a large corporation, but if someone does have login access to the support website and downloads you may want to look for the beta.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
kcft Sep 7, 2016 5:09 PM (in response to kcft)Pulse secure claims that the issue is fixed starting with 5.2R5. Anyone knows where can I get a download of the 5.2R5 or later client? I looked everywhere using google but the latest I found is 5.2R4. Unfortunately I am not in the IT dept of my company so I don't have access to Pulse Secure Support website (I tried through IT but Macs are not a priority).

Re: Pulse Secure not working
AISU Tech Sep 14, 2016 7:57 AM (in response to kcft)I'm also looking for it. No other workaround works anymore.
Are you getting this compliance error?:
"Firewall listed in security requirements is not installed."

akannabiran Sep 20, 2016 8:38 PM (in response to AISU Tech)I had similar issue after installing macSierra version.
I found 5.2R5 version https://admin.kuleuven.be/icts/services/extranet/ps-pulse-mac-5-2r5-0-b869-installer.dmg which fixed my VPN connectinity issue.

Re: Pulse Secure not working
kcft Sep 21, 2016 4:26 AM (in response to kcft)I am still waiting for a link to the 5.2R5 client... anyone? Unfortunately my IT department does not care much about us (few Mac users) and even though I tried providing them the article link https://kb.pulsesecure.net/articles/Pulse_Secure_Article/KB40245/?q=sierra&l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1&atype=
and the download link Pulse Secure Licensing and Download Center they have dozens of other things to worry about.
