what is the max version of xcode I should install for Yosemite 10.10.5?

My company has a 9 year old mac mini I need to install xcode on. Attempting to install the latest xcode fails with warnings that say I should update the OS.

I'd like to install the xcode that is compatible with 10.10.5? Which version of xcode should I use?

thanks much

If you really are running 10.10.5 on something, Xcode 7.1.1, which is current in the mac app store, claims to be compatible.

Prior versions are available from the Downloads for Apple Developers page.

Once you have logged in, enter "Xcode 3." in the search field at the top left and hit Enter. Note that 3.2.6, as an example, is for use w/leopard. Not sure what OS you're on.
