Xcode update won't install on my iMac

I'm running OS X 10.11.1 (latest ver) but I can't get Xcode to update completely from the App store. It downloads then says it's installing, but it never seems to finish. Then an error message pops up that says there was a download error. Is there any solution to this? Any advice you can give me?

Anecdotal reports are that repeated efforts reap results...eventually. My guess is the backend/signing servers are acting up.
