Disabling IPv6 killed my Mac :)

I disabled IPv6... Well, set it to Manual or LocalLink Only.

Funny thing is that a lot of things broke. I wasn't sure how it all was connected, but many programs that needed the network just broke/hang like Mail/Safari, Apple Remote Desktop wouldn't update status of hosts on the network, wouldn't connect to them, and so on. At points the system just became unresponsive, hung on trying to reboot, in the end it was a total disaster.

I don't know what brought it to mind, but I remember that I had siabled IPv6 and so I turned it back on and everything returned to normal.

This is on 10.11 Beta (15A244d), I don't know if earlier versions had this problem or not, or if it will be fixed in a future one. 🙂

I've had so many odd things crashing left and right in this beta that it has been frustrating, but you expect that on a beta. The total system melt-down on disabling IPv6 I did not expect, though.
