Hi,

Does anyone know how to activate facetime camera on a thunderbolt display in el capitan?

All facetime contacts are gone as well

Same problem on me

Thrunderbolt display camera is not working in using facetime.

"No Camera Available"

"To use Facetime, turn on the camera"

How can I turn it on?

I'm using the latest El Capitan (Macbook pro retina 15"- mid2012)

w/o Thunderbolt display, it works properly via embedded camera

Same problem here. Thunderbolt diplay camera not working with facetime.
MacBook Air (13", Early 2014), El Capitan 10.11

Same problem here. Camera not working with FaceTime nor with Skype.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013). Version 10.11 Beta (15A278b).

Same problem here as well.

MacBook Pro (15" Late 2011). Version 10.11.1 Beta

Exact same problem here. Running El Cap 10.11.1 public beta.

When conntecting my MBP Retina (15", Mid 2014) to an Apple Thunderbolt display, Facetime says "No Camera Available. To use Facetime, Turn on the Camera".

Skype and Photobooth both properly turn on the camera with the thunderbolt display attached.

Everything works fine when the laptop is disconnected from the Thunderbolt display.

Same problem here. Macbook Air 2011 with Thunderbolt Display and facetime camera is not working. El Capitan 10.11 GM Seed.

I found a fix. Open the terminal, and type the following:

sudo killall VDCAssistant

Mine is also not working in any app..(Skype, Facetime, etc).

MacBook Pro 17 (late 2010).

Any solutions?

The FaceTime camera on the Thunderbolt display also does not activate for me, MacBook Pro Retina 15 in. late 2013. The FaceTime contacts are there though.

That did not work for me, the FaceTime camera still does not activate in the FaceTime app.

Same issue here on MacBook Air in ALL apps

This solved my problem. Thanks

In FaceTime app go to Menu>Video and change the set camera to FaceTime HD Camera (Display)

Same problem on my 2011 iMac. No camera available in Photo Booth, Facetime, or Skype.

The Photo Booth screen says "There in no connected camera."

The Facetime "Video" menu shows no camera.

The "Camera" chooser in Skype "Audio/Video" preferences shows "No Camera".

"sudo killall VDCAssistant" doesn't help.

The "Camera" item in the "System Information" app, launched from the "System Report..." button on the Apple/About this Mac menu item, says: "No video capture devices were found."

Same problem, all applications+system information do no see any camera!! I tried also SMC + NVRAM reset but it did not work!

Any other idea??
