Charging the iPad Air via the Smart Connector

I'm planning on making a jig to hold and charge an iPad. Specifically, it will hold it in the landscape orientation, and charge it via the smart connector.

Where can I find the electrical specification for the smart connector?

The specific questions I'm trying to answer are:

What voltage(s) and current(s) do I need to provide? (Secondarily, does it negotiate for higher currents like the USB standard?)

What is the communication interface? As it's only 3 pins total, I'm thinking it's either a bidirectional communication via 1 pin, or it's modulated somehow to reuse pins.

What is the required magnetic setup (polarities, strengths) to align the iPad to the Smart Connector?

That information is not documented publicly. Rather, it’s only available to folks via the MFi developer programme.
