Archive utility not working to compress or uncompress files. Anyone have a solution?

Just trying to do both compress and uncompress some files and the the archive utility keeps chugging away for hours on a 13mb file.

You may be trying to use the wrong directory. Try expanding the directory in /tmp or some other location that isn't managed by Catalina's new security protocols.
