Scanning Apple Wallet Pass with front-facing iPad camera

We are currently building an application that allows a user to easily check-in at a facility by presenting a QR code on their phone. The kiosks at the facility are 2nd and 3rd generation 12.9" iPad Pros, and we are currently using the front-facing camera to scan the QR codes.
We are currently developing an "Add to Apple Wallet" feature that saves the QR code to the patient's phone as a 'generic pass' type, making ti easier for patients to store and retrieve their QR code. However, during testing, we are finding that the QR code on the Apple Wallet pass is stoo small to be read by the front-facing camera on the iPad. When moving the QR code close enough to be read by the iPad, it is unable to focus due to the minimum focusing distance of the front-facing camera. Moving the QR ocde far enough to focus, causes the QR code to be too small to be recognized/read by the front-facing camera.
Based on the Wallet Developer Guide, it appears that we are unable to change/increase the size of the QR code on the wallet pass itself, but I was wondering if anyone has had previous experience regarding this, and may be able to share any insights or advice about how we could make this work.
Thank you

Well, not talking about the capabilities of front-facing cameras here… ;-) – but maybe you will simply try with a better, i.e. more error-tolerant, QR recognition stack (possibly even a commercial one); and, of course (if possible), with a shorter encoded identifier, resulting in a less fine-grained QR on the pass.
