"Required content for platform iOS Simulator is missing" when trying to run Xcode 11 beta

I'm on 10.14.5 Mojave and have non-beta Xcode 10.2.1 installed.

After I downloaded the xip file from my dev account and unzipped it, I tried running the "Xcode-beta".

All that happened was a dialog box popped up saying "Required content for platform iOS Simulator is missing. Please reinstall Xcode"

I tried moving it to my Applications folder, but this didnt help either.

Any suggestions?

In my Xcode 10.2.1 I can run the simulator.

Thank you!

Ok

This happens when your xcode-select does not point to the Xcode-beta.app installation. To fix this, run:

[sudo] xcode-select -s /Applications/Xcode-beta.app

This just happened to me. The issue was that I was too impatient and didn't see that the .app file was still copying into my Applications folder. Xcode opened fine once the copy finished.

My xcode installation was working fine. then the cpu heat/fan controller malfunctioned and the fans were off then all of the sudden the fans went full blast and my mac shut down and restarted. now I have to reinstall Xcode.
