Submission Rejected-5.1.1

Hi all,

Our team recently submitted a new app version to the app store and got rejected saying that we violated 5.1.1 because our app requires users to register with location information to use job posting feature.

The thing is, we require such information for content and user security purpose. If a user who lives in LA and posts a job in NY, then our system will identify such user as a "high risk" user and may ask the user to pass more security check measures, i.e. provide more information to demonstrate his/her posting are real and effective.

We are not sure if security reason is sufficient engough to pursuade the app review team to approve our app version update, any one has thoughts on this? How do we solve this problem? Thanks!

Can we see the entire rejection, thanks.

Did you already appeal? How many times? How many rejections?

Just to clarify, you wrote:

> requires users to register with location information to use job posting feature

Does your app require the user to register with location information to use the app or just to use a subset of the app?

We don't ask them for location information when they register. Only when they want to use the "job posting" feature, we need their location information.

Then appeal stating:

Your concern was that "(u)ser registration that requires the sharing of personal information must be optional or tied to account-specific functionality."

- Our user registration is optional.

- Our user registration requires location information for security purposes. If a user's location does not correspond to their job posting our app will ask the user to pass more security check measures. This is a key feature in our app.

But.......is this really why you need user location information? If not, you run the risk of being tagged as 'dishonest' by App Review.

Yes. This is the really the reason why we need the location information. We have responded using your strategy and explain more in details about why we need it. And it got approved! Thank you PBK!!!
