register an app name

Fed up with the Apple website , its slow response and completely unhelpful design and layout.

I simply as a novice wished to join and protect the app name I have thought of and take my idea further from there.

The website and customer service response has been useless.

I have been directed to https://help.apple.com/app-store-connect/#/dev2cd126805

which then asks for the Name and further information such as

Primary Language

Bundlw ID

SKU


these 3 mean nothing to me and the website does not help


Can someone help?

And direct me to a simple just register and protect my app idea NAME

thats all I wanrt to do at this stage.

To grab a name for your app, you must (a) purchase a Developer Program account, then (b) add an app to App Store Connect - 'a' should be simple enough, but 'b' is not.


I'll assume you already have a paid and active dev account. Use that access to visit the 'Account' link above to create a new bundleID, or, create an app in Xcode and let it do that for you.


Attempting to walk someone thru 'b' is a bit beyond what can be done on a forum. And while I agree the docs are cryptic, all I can do is direct you back to ASC Help/Add a new app.


  • Primary language is the base language for that app - see https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/qa/qa1828/_index.html
  • About bundleID, see step 4 at that link.
  • SKU (means stock keeping unit) is a number you make up...it is used by you to track your app on your side. Imagine a sequence you'd follow when making several apps over time. Something like tidwnk001 should be ok, then for the next app, change it, like tidwnk002
