Has anyone obtained an App Store Connect API key yet ?

I requested access to the App Store Connect API several days ago but I've received no indication that the request has been received, let alone processed.

(Note - I am the team agent, so I do have the correct privileges).

How long should I expect to wait ?

Has anyone (outside Apple that is) actually obtained an API key yet ?

Replies

Ok - I've worked it out.

Although I'm the team agent, my developer account is considered to be for an individual (rather than an organisation) and Apple are only giving permission to organisations at present.

The message shown after you apply is confusing, though. It simply says:

<person> requested access to the App Store Connect API on <date>

with no indication that the feature hasn't been rolled out to individuals yet...

I'm also a team member of another account which is for an organisation and, once the team agent had requested access, this page

https://appstoreconnect.apple.com/access/api

changed shortly afterwards to show this message:

Your request to access the App Store Connect API was approved.

and a button below it labelled "Generate API Key"....

I'm glad that you already obtained the access and thanks for the quick description Vertigo!

(I know this should be Apple's task) but do you think you can help to describe or provide a screenshot on what do the Team Agent need to do?

Unfortunately for our team, our Team Agent is very busy and we would certainly want to help smoothen the process for him to provide the team access to the AppStore Connect API.

Cheers!

This is what the Team Agent needs to do.

Note - they will need to know their Apple ID (and password).

1. Go to this url in a browser:

https://appstoreconnect.apple.com/access/api

If you are not already logged in, this will ask for your Apple ID and password.

Once logged in (or immediately if already logged in) the browser will show the page to request access to the App Store Connect API

On that page there will be a button labelled "Request Access"

2 Click on the button labelled "Request Access".

Once that's done (and provided the request is accepted), all users with an Admin account for that team will be able to generate API keys.

Hope that's clear enough.

It is indeed confusing that it says access was requested, but in reality it is not supported for individual developers and thus will not be granted.

Anyone landing here in or after March, 2024, here is the rundown: Around February of this year, Apply changed the layout of their App Store Connect web page. There is no longer a "Key" under "Users and Access" tab. Instead, you need to click on "Integration" tab. then click on App Store Connect API. You will see a button "Request Access". Click it. The access will be granted immediately. Next, you will see a promising "+" symbol, allowing you to proceed at will. Hope this helps (credit: https://stackoverflow.com/a/77967129/175169)
