Apple HEVC (AVE)... What is AVE?

When looking at the available encoders in a Macbook Pro containing the T2 chipset running macOS Mojave (10.14) I get these HEVC encoders.

The software implementation? ->

Apple HEVC (SW)

My guess here.. The Intel QuicSync version? ->

Apple HEVC (HW)

But what is this?

Apple HEVC (AVE)

Is 'AVE' indicating the encoder inside the T2 chip mentioned at the Apple event October 2018? If not what is it?

Could it be the abbreviation for Amlogic Video Engine. That would mean that Amlogic is providing just that.. And that's what's in the T2 chip..

I'm asking this since I develop encoders in various platforms including Apples macOS and iOS. Intels implementation of HEVC is only 4:2:0 and 8-bits per component with no B-frames, if Apple is providing a alternative HEVC encoder with better specifications than Intels that is also hardware accelerated it would be great to get more information about that specific encoders properties.

Is the HEVC (AVE) hardware? is it capable of 4:2:2 encoding. B frames in HEVC? 10-bits per component and so on.

Would be great to get more information about Apple HEVC (AVE)..

I hope I'm on topic since I think it's a relevant question for us who develop encoders on the macOS platform.
