since iOS 12 the return key is not showing the text (send, done, next...) in the iPad when a different language from english is configured in the keyboard (german, spanish...).
For the iPhone everything is working as expected.
Anyone having the same issue?
I have an iPad running 12.0.1 (16A404).
When english keyboard, it says return (in mail).
With other language, shows the return key picto (like this <_| )
It was effectively different in previous IOS versions (11).
I advise to file a bug.

you described the problem, for a language not english, the key picto appears instead the action.
For Return, Done, Send, is always showing this picto, and not writing the text of the action. In the iPhone is working good.
Is this a documented change or you think is a bug?
I do not undestand why non english would be treated differently.
That does look like a bug, you should report it.
That may not be a bug but a feature.
And it is not a language question, but a country case.
In US keyboard, there are 9 keys on second row, leaving large space for the return key, enough to write the label (return, done…)
In UK ( ! ), french, spanish, probably german, there are 10 keys, leaving small room for the return key. Hence the text is replace by the symbol.
That's the same for the smart keyboard (accessory).

I did not check with other languages, but I assume that's the case with any keyboard with more than 9 keys on second row.
Whatever the reason, it is, IMHO, a poor localization result.
Seems they are playing a bit with keyboards layout recently. So, that could be worth an improvement request.
