Expiration of Distribution Cert & Provisioning Profiles?

Reading through Apple documentation, I'm still not able to get a clear answer to my question: what happens when my provisioning profile expires, but my distribution certificate is still valid?

Account type: In-House/Enterprise

For example:

1. My provisioning profile expires 1 September

2. My distribution certificate expires 1 October

Questions:

1. What happens on 2 September (day after my provisioning profile expires)?

-- Do I have to renew my provisioning profile if my distribution certificate is still valid?

-- If I don't, will my app cease to function?

2. What happens on 2 October (day after distribution certificate expires)?

-- Do I have to renew my distribution certificate for my app to continue to function?

-- Will it cease to function if my distribtion certificate expires?

Thanks for the help.

This really isn't that complicated.

An app will only continue to work when it's profile, -and- the account's dist cert are valid - no go, no show. That's why they exist, to insure valid rights.

Valid profiles are app-centric (per app). Valid certs are account-centric (all apps).
