Disk Utility Kernel Panic Trying to Erase Drive

I've got a machine that was running the Mojave beta that I want to wipe. I'm unable to. Here's what I've tried:

1) Booting to internal recovery partition. Ran Disk Utility and tried to erase the container. It kernel panics after a moment.

2) Booting to Internet recovery partition. Ran Disk Utility and tried to erase the container. It kernel panics after a moment.

3) Starting in Target Disk Mode and connecting to a machine running High Sierra. Ran Disk Utility and tried to erase the container, it panics the High Sierra machine.

I've tried erasing to both APFS and HFS+, same result. I tried First Aid to see if that might "fix" something but nada.

I'm not entirely sure what to do next. Any ideas?
