compass shows inaccurate and imprecise values ranging up to 90 degree error

I am trying to use Arkit framework for outdoor navigation using gravity and navigtion oreintation but due to inaccurate truenorth set by compass i am getting huge error between actual and AR object

Maybe the way to calibrate the compass in iOS 9.3 or in the iPhone SE hardware is to shut the screen off and turn it back on with the compass app running???
