Hi,We built an app for a non-profit organization in The Netherlands that is meant to increase binding between volunteer and organization. The app presents news, has a chat function and volunteers can rate how they experience the volunteer work they do for the organization.Initially the app did not present any functionality until the user activated the app as volunteer (like many apps do). Our app got rejected because it was meant for this organization only and their employees. This is not correct because it is meant for (potential) volunteers and anyone in The Netherlands can become volunteer. So we added the option to become volunteer. Again our app got rejected for the same reason. We only got more details after appeal (why is that?):We continue to find that this app was designed for a specific business or organization and not for general distribution on the App Store. Business apps available on the App Store are meant for use by a wide variety of external customers around the world. Thank you for explaining that the app is intended for the general public. However, no part of the app is accessible without signing up or signing in. If the app was truly meant for the general public, then it should have content and features available to anyone without signing up or signing in.Then we changed the app so without activation the app would start and you can see news/information about the oranization and contact the organization. Acitvation optional. And still got the same reject. We appealed several times and in fact really don't understand the rejection since this app is not different from really a lot of other apps. In fact, in our experience almost all apps we require a service of that company or be a customer of it:We found multiple apps meant for a non-profit organization that cannot be used without being logged in in that app (being a volunteer)Apps like banking apps, car apps and other hardware-apps require you to be a customer or owner of hardware, without that the app is not of use for youFor all these apps we would say they are for general public because you can buy a service, get the hardware or become volunteer. Like our app.So we are puzzled. Also about the lack of information Apple supplies and the inability to have a phone conversation about it. We studied the guide lines, we examened other apps and we don't see how our app does not comply with the guide lines. We are now forced to distribute our app as business app and have the organization do extra administration by entering apple ids in business manager and there is no exposure in the app store for people potentially becoming volunteer by finding this app.Any comments and ideas about this?Kind regards,Rob
