After upgrading to MacOS 11.2 I noticed that my apps status bar icon (NSStatusItem) is not visible. After some tests I found out that the icon is actually visible if the application is signed with "3rd Party Mac Developer" certificate, but is not visible if signed with development certificate (the one Xcode uses in debug builds). That seems somewhat strange to me. Is it a new security policy? Ok, I get it for unsigned applications but what's wrong with applications signed with development certificate? How can I develop an application featuring status bar icon then? Or is it a sort of bug?
