I have Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 and XCode 12.4 Recently I noticed some process accesses *.pbxproj files on my file system including files in zip archives, not just read only access but actually making some changes to the files so both project files and archives are re-saved like every hour. I noticed this because my Dropbox highlights modified files and I see how my Downloads icon on bottom toolbar blinks (what you usually see when you just downloaded new file and Mas OS updates icon to the most recent file - but now it blinks because old files are being written). I tried to use a file monitor but all I found were some unknown processes with just id's and some were zip (so some process really unzips archives). Not sure if it's XCode is involved but I have no other ideas. Dropbox accesses only files in own folder if it would be that. I also have SourceTree installed but it's hard to imagine it would scan the whole file system every hour.
