Hi All,Amid all this talk of Free Trials and Subscriptions I have a curly question that I have not seen raised. I hope someone has some experience with this ...We have an app that offers a free trial period that is part of an auto-renewing subscription. ie: The user can evaluate the app for 14 days free, but is comitting to a monthly subscription at the door. This works well enough but a large % object to the on-going monthly fee beyond 12 months. What we want to do instead is to present them with a 14 day free trial as above BUT then say pay your monthly fee for 12 months then beyond that you own it and no more to pay. Effectively giving them a lifetime membership after they have paid for 12 months. The appeal is this would be akin to a 12months interest free payment plan, breaking the high cost of our service into smaller more affordable monthly fee's while not becoming 2,3,4x more expensive than our competitors after year 2,3,4 etc.Apple does provide a mechanism for lifetime access when using a non-consumable IAP, but this doesn't allow for a free trial upfront. We could cobble together a Free trial under the new rules but in an app like ours it's vital we get a commitment at the start of the trial. And so my idea/question is could we use a 12 month NON-RENEWING subscription in this way? Free trial, 12 equal payments, then at the end of the 12 month term they keep access to the app and content? I imagine we could say are you a 12 month subscriber? and then don't check for validation after that?I've never seen this done, anyone tried or see any potential pitfalls? Thanks!!
