Problem signing in to Bitbucket Server

Using Xcode 10.1 on Mojave I am attempting to add an Account in Preferences. I choose Bitbucket Server, and provide my https:// URL, user name and password. When I hit Sign In, I get a red message "The server version could not be determined." beneath the "Sign in to your Bitbucket Server account". The current project is under git control with that account, and I can use the Source Control menu items to push to the server without issue. (The first time pushing to the server required me to provide credentials, but they seem to be saved such that I no longer need to provide credentials when pushing.) Even after successfully pushing, I do not have the account listed in preferences and still cannot add it. Does anyone know how I can get the account listed properly in preferences?

Has anyone been of help to you since you posted? If so, I'd like to know the solution.


I have the same problem. Installing the Xcode Integration add-on and activating it for my account didn't help.


Taking the error message at its word, I investigated, I found that we're running Bitbucket Server 5.10, released nearly two years ago, and end-of-life in May. The current versions are 6.9 (Server) and 6.10 (Enterprise), released mid-December and mid-January respectively.


So… what version of Bitbucket Server were you using? If you updated, did that resolve the problem?

I was running Bitbucket Server version 5.14, and I came across this issue. I was getting the error message, "The server version could not be determined", when trying to add a Bitbucket Server account in Xcode. I upgraded Bitbucket Server to 6.9.3 (latest stable version), and I still have the same issue.


I am running macOS Mojave 10.14.6 with Xcode version 11.3.1.

Here is the log from Console when I try to add a Bitbucket server account. It appears that it is receiving a 404 error response from Bitbucket. It must be adding something onto the URL that is entered in the box, because my Bitbucket server does not respond with a 404 when the URL I supplied to Xcode is accessed.

Please try to reproduce this issue using Xcode 12 beta (12A6159) or Xcode 12 for macOS Universal Apps beta (12A8158a)
