Guarantees and refunding

Hi, we are an educational app and we want to add a money-back guarantee based on completion of the app + some physical evidence within a time period.

We have competitors with this kind of guarantee on the web, but none of them have the guarantee in their respective apps. Why is this?

I can only think of two alternatives;

1. They don’t want to pay the 30% commission fee and also risk a double refund

2. Apple does not allow these types of guarantees

If the answer is “1.” We believe that it’s worth the 30%. But we don’t want to add something that may conflict with Apple’s guidelines.

Is there any way to get in contact with Apple staff and get their approval? Have any of you had a similar experience or know the answer?

Thanks!

In the App Store, it is Apple that is the merchant of record. You are just the wholesaler. And the contract that you agreed to does not permit this. You are welcome to contact Apple and try to negotiate new terms. Good luck.

Hi, thank you very much for your answer :-)

Would this be true even if we used our own means to repay the customer, e.g. using paypal? In that case, it will not affect Apple's revenue at all and only be a way for us to gain trust and portray the quality of our education.

You are certainly welcome to distribute money to random people on the internet if you want. But Apple wouldn't be a party to that.
