Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
mdescalzo Nov 6, 2019 3:19 PM (in response to mudong)I'm in the same boat today. I'm using the same version of Xcode, macOS, and iOS SDKs as above and getting the same error message. Any light that can be shed would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
KMT Nov 6, 2019 3:23 PM (in response to mudong)Was that app also opened in Xcode 11.2.1 GM or any previous beta?
-
Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
mdescalzo Nov 6, 2019 3:24 PM (in response to KMT)In my case, no. I've gotten burned by GMs in the past and avoid them.
-
Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
mudong Nov 6, 2019 3:35 PM (in response to KMT)I don't think so. Usually I will avoid using beta version. and my last successful upload to App Store was 20191025, between then and now, I am sure I haven't used any beta version Xcode.

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
KMT Nov 6, 2019 4:08 PM (in response to mudong)>I don't think so.
It would appear that you need to either use an Xcode that the backend doesn't know about yet, or back down far enough that it doesn't matter...in other words, if you want to get in the store with current tools you may need to wait a day or two.

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
Piso13 Nov 6, 2019 3:58 PM (in response to mudong)Same here!
But I can also see a message that it was deprecated and that we should download 11.2.1
The problem is that I cannot see that version on the app store ?

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
iOSDevDaniel Nov 6, 2019 3:59 PM (in response to mudong)Apple decided to deprecate Xcode 11.2 on Nov 5th due to building buggy UITextView code and advises building with 11.2.1. (which is officially not out yet).
You can see this message if you try to Distribute app from the Organizer (Valide app doesn't show it).-
Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
mudong Nov 6, 2019 4:02 PM (in response to iOSDevDaniel)Thanks a lot, Daniel, I will wait for 11.2.1 then.
-
Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
KMT Nov 6, 2019 4:10 PM (in response to mudong)No need to wait. Try downloads/beta/applications: https://developer.apple.com/download/
Just hope that the backend has been updated to accept it.
-
Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
mdescalzo Nov 6, 2019 4:20 PM (in response to KMT)Delays in those backend updates is why I steer clear of GMs. However, this puts in between a rock and hard place with Apple and my boss. Tomorrow will be an interesting day.
@KMT Thanks for the info.

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
Tim9909 Nov 6, 2019 7:51 PM (in response to KMT)Okay, am I correct to surmise the 11.2 is never going to work, so only path forward is 11.2.1, and there is no reason to wait for it to move out of beta. Whether you install it now, or when it moves out of beta, is not going to effect whether it is accepted by App Store?
-
Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
KMT Nov 6, 2019 8:17 PM (in response to Tim9909)Who knows if 11.2 will continue to act out or not - as for 11.2.1, it could go full release with a new build #, same version, this time tomorrow, perhaps making us all go back around this tree yet again, not that such a sequence of events would set a precedent...
Oh, and be sure to keep my PSA in mind: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/125552

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
iOSDevDaniel Nov 7, 2019 9:11 AM (in response to KMT)I can confirm that Xcode 11.2.1 GM seed XIP downloaded from the "beta downloads" page unpacks to Xcode.app and not Xcode-beta.app, and that the Organizer can successfully Validate app, and Distribute app.

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
DesignerJeff Nov 7, 2019 9:31 AM (in response to mudong)My programmer and I are having the same exact problem. He has been using Xcode 11.2 without issue to this point and we successfully uploaded to TestFlight last night. When we try to upload the same exact binary to iTunes we get Invalid Binary errors. Apple wanted to charge us a support ticket to bring errors with Xcode to their attention! The people you call into and speak with have no clue what you are talking about, in my opinion they need better training.
We are now getting this warning msg:
App Store Connect Operation Warning
WARNING ITMS-90703: "Deprecated Xcode Build. Due to resolved app archive issues, we have deprecated Xcode 11.2 on November 5, 2019. Download Xcode 11.2.1 or newer, rebuild your app and resubmit."
I googled this and found out much more information than Apple's own developer department knew. They should know this!
Apple has just released an emergency Xcode 11.2.1 update for developers — the tool used to create iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS apps. ... According to the company, today's update fixes a critical issue that could cause apps using UITextView to crash when run on previous versions of iOS, iPadOS, or tvOS.

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
acayir Nov 8, 2019 12:15 AM (in response to mudong)I have Version 11.2 (11B52). It let me upload my project successfully and I pushed app to the market two days ago. today, I have same XCode, same project, but now, it gives this error. I dont know what is difference between today and 2 days ago. but it is not definetely project (excep version updating) and xcode.
worse part, I think 11.2 has something which causes crash on the application. becuase I submit my app with previous version XCode 1 week ago, and it works perfectly fine. I submit another app 2 days ago with Dark mode change (I added UIUserInterfaceStyle Light to info.plist). we get numerous crash now, and xcode doesnt let us to update our app. just before big market days. it is costing too much for us. crap!!

dfszfzsdf Nov 8, 2019 3:26 PM (in response to mudong)Why does anyone accept this b ulls hit? We downloaded seven gigabytes a few days ago, only to get an error that those seven gigabytes are now outdated and we need to download another seven gigabytes to be able to build apps again, which then corrupt our projects?
Seriously, Apple, get a grip on your internal processes and quality control again! This is ridiculous!

ccorbell Nov 11, 2019 2:53 PM (in response to mudong)Just adding another data point - same error here. Waiting for official 11.2.1 release before I can validate & distribute my release candidate build.
The validation message stating Xcode 10.1 is required should be treated as a bug and corrected, it's misleading.

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
johnrechd Nov 12, 2019 5:47 PM (in response to mudong)I am in the same boat (wow Apple really has been botching things lately). XCode 11.2.1 does not show up in the app store unless you update to the very latest version of Mojave first. If you try to download it from the appstore by using the link in the developer portal, it will give you an error that there is not enough disk space to install the update (no matter how much disk space you free up, I had 160 something GB). The only remedy was to update Mojave to the latest, then install the new XCode.
Heads up: If you have an Apple Watch App, you may want to check it on the new WatchOS6.1 as well, it completely broke some of our UI for the version that was already released.

Re: Getting "Invalid toolchain" when doing "Validate App"
chevolfromwinston-salem Nov 13, 2019 7:51 PM (in response to mudong)The new update from the App Store (11.2.1) solved this issue and I was able to upload a new build without any issues. Even in the Xcode release notes they point out that the UITextView issue has been fixed, seems like this entire issue is now resolved.
