QuickLook Mail.qlgenerator in 10.15 Catalina

Hi!

Does anybody know where QuickLook extension for email files in Catalina has gone?

In previous versions of macOS there is a generator at path /System/Library/QuickLook/Mail.qlgenerator and we are able to generate previews of eml-files with the qlmanage utility. In Catalina, qlmanage doesn't produce a preview for eml. Copying the generator from, say, Mojave to Catalina's /Library/QuickLook/Mail.qlgenerator doesn't help.

Is the removal of Mail.qlgenerator temporary or should we find another means to generate previews of eml-files?

Seems that Mail has a quick look extension—MailQuickLookExtension.appex—which is located in /System/Applications/Mail.app/Contents/PlugIns/ and can be viewed in System Preferences –> Extensions. But qlmanage isn't aware of it.


To stress the point: I'm interested in generating quick looks with qlmanage or with any replacement if it exists.

It seems to work here, at least for Previews. The thumbnail icon is a generic document on Catalina whereas it was prettier on Mojave.

Yeah, the thumbnail for eml is a generic document but when you press Space the preview is trying to generate. Works inconsistently though: headers are only shown, sometimes a preview is generated, sometimes a spinning wheel spins forever.

qlmanage was forgotten to be updated. 😟
