Notarizing taking upwards of 30 minutes

I'm working on a software project that requires me to frequently make notarized releases, as many as five in one day, possibly even more. Prior to today it wasn't a big time sink as notarizing generally took a couple of minutes. The last several requests to Apple's notary though have taken 30 minutes to complete, and the entire time I twiddling my thumbs waiting for it to finish before I can continue my work.

Can anyone at Apple speak to the wait times for getting software notarized and whether or not Apple intends to dedicate resources to keeping it short?

Is this perhaps the result of many developers using the notary service all at once due to the recent release of Catalina?

It's taking hours now

My request has been in progress now for 9 h

same issue here since yesterday, I have an account to run our ci and I suspect it is being rate limited for notarization requests but can't find any notice about it. it used to be less than 5 minutes

I am going to try using multiple dev accounts and see if that would help.

That’s a clear indication of a problem. Based on this thread, it seems that the notarisation service had problems recently.

Thanks, https://developer.apple.com/system-status/ is good to know about. Our last night's notarizations went through in couple of minutes, like they normally do. The upload is still quite slow, though (it's always been). It takes about 20 min to upload a 60 MB zip.

Truly fed up of the productivity killer called Notarization. Frequently we find that it can take up to an hour at times. Frustrating to say the least as we need to urgently prepare a bug fix after a public release and suddenly notarization won’t complete within a reasonable period of time.
