How to get server notifications at subscription renewals?

I am testing my first app with auto-renewable subscriptions. I have also enabled server-to-server notifications. However, I don't seem to get any notification on user renewal (neither within the app through listener nor any server notifications). Is it because it is assumed that subscriptions are auto-renewed and therefore only cancellation or status changes are being notified? Thank you for help.
