[Question] Hard Drive Support for iPadOS 13

Hello everyone,

So has anyone of you managed to connect an external hard drive to your iPad?

Both of my hard drives give me the simple error „Contents not available“.

Do I have to format it to a special system?

Thanks in advance.

I‘M not sure of the requirements, does the external drive need to have its own power supply, or no power supply? The Lacie external I have doesn’t read when I plug it in to my 2nd Gen iPP. Also, since is the first beta, the software to make it work may be coming in a future version.

I Was able to connect G-drive usb-c and view in files app.

I've been able to mount and use a Windows 10 boot drive as well as JHFS+ drives. APFS is currently not supported which seems strange (they simply don't appear).

How are you guys able to do this? Mine says device draws too much power when I use a USB drive with lightning to USB adapter.

All of my flash drives say this.

"This accesory requires too much power".

iPad Pro 12.9 (first gen) with lightning to USB adapter.
