Catalina Installer freeze after rebooting... apple mark only appears

Hi,

I tried to newly install or upgrade to Catalina from mojave virtual machine on Vmware fusion but it didn't proceed to installation process.

any ideas?

yeah same thing here. Installed mojave, installed the beta, downloaded the update, installed, rebooted and now it's just hanging at the black screen/apple logo. Probably due to vmware fusion not knowing what else to do...

Installation runs through in Parallels for Mac 14, but there are quite some issues. Mouse dragging doesn't work, access to internet is interrupted, Photos and Xcode 11 beta crash.

You got that far?
I'm greeted with this error when trying to create a 10.15 guest on Fusion 11.1.0

I tried creating install media by using the command line tool in /Applications/Install macOS 10.15 Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia, but that doesn't work either — it goes striaght into the VMware boot manager.

Looks like we'll have to wait for a Fusion update.

I'm seeing the same thing here with the latest version of VMWare Fusion. Any solutions would be appreciated.

Please check my answer here for that same situation

Not Fusion specific. Same issue on bare metal: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/117281

These seem to be two distict issues (or at least the fix in the other thread didn't work for me). I mounted the VMDK and removed the extensions from /Library/Extensions, but still am stuck on an Apple logo when I try to boot the VM in Fusion 11.1

Same issue here; I can not install macOS 10.15 (19A471t) on a fresh install via VMware Fusion 11.1.0 (13668589). Stuck at black screen with the Apple logo.

solution is here...

confirmed working, enjoy!

Same issue here with VMWare Fusion 11.1.0. Holding cmd-v to boot in verbose mode shows a kernel panic with the message "Unable to find driver for this platform".

After several restarts, i disconected all periferials form computer and turned off. Hold the shift key and turn on Keep Shift key pressed until apple logo apears and it worked for me.

.

Same problem here - you can do a FRESH install on a new disk with the dance described at

(and more cleanly at: https://planetvm.net/blog/?p=64552)

BUT: If you run a software update, eitehr in Catalina or Mojave, the system irretreivably hangs at the back screen and apple logo, as described in the first thread.

I opened a second thread at https://communities.vmware.com/thread/613842

I think we need an updated machine definition from VMWare.
