Change Apple ID of Team Agent/Account Holder or enable 2-factor-auth?

Hello,

When I set up my individual iTunes Connect/Apple developer account many years ago, for some reason I used a new Apple ID as Team Agent / Account Holder which is different from the Apple ID that I'm using regularly on my devices.

The Apple ID that I use regularly on my devices has 2-Factor-Authentification. But the one that I'm only using for iTunes Connect/Apple Developer account has no 2-factor-auth.

Now I heard that Apple will soon require Two-Factor-Authentification to sign in to Developer account. But the Apple ID which I'm only using for the developer account is not associated with any devices and I also think you can't use the same phone number for different Apple ID's. So I think I can't activate 2-factor-auth for the Apple ID that I only use for Apple Developer account and nothing else, right?

What should I do now?

Can I change the Team Agent/Account Holder Apple ID to my regular Apple ID that I'm using on my devices everyday? How?

Thank you so much!

In that example, you may want to use the 'Account' link above right, then 'Membership' on the left, then the link on the right 'Need to edit this information'?

Hello,

It seems that you can still activate 2FA for your developer Apple ID on a device that you already use with another private Apple ID.

I asked the Apple Developer support the same question I was asking here. I'm posting their reply here since it will probably help many developers who are facing the same issue when Apple will soon require 2FA:

"Even though your apple device is connected to your private Apple ID, which has Two-Factor-Authentication already enabled, you will still be able to also set up Two-Factor-Authentication for your developer Apple ID with it.

For this you would have to log out of your private Apple ID account on your device for a few minutes and log on with your developer Apple ID. This only takes a few minutes.

To prevent data loss please make sure that all data on your private Apple ID is securely stored in the cloud. Alternatively you can perform a back-up before logging out.

After you have successfully switched to Two Factor Authentication for your developer Apple ID using your device, you can log out and then log in with your regular Apple ID again.

Security codes will be sent to your verified phone number in the future and you won’t have to log in with the developer Apple ID on your device again, if you don’t wish to do so."

Aggg. There go all the Apple Pay credit cards on my iPhone. And to top it off, my developer Apple ID (which works fine everywhere) couldn't sign in ...

Signing back in to my personal accout, still waiting waiting waiting ...

For others reading this—another option is to create a separate user on your Mac (from System Preferences -> Users & Groups) with that Apple ID, turn on 2FA there, then when logging in, switch quickly over to that to get the six-digit ccode, then back to your main account to enter it. Annoying, but better than signing out of your main Apple ID which will wipe out Apple Pay and who knows what other side-effects.
