3rd party screen savers not supported?

It looks like no 3rd party screen savers are supported by macOS Mojave Beta 1. These screen savers work fine on High Sierra.

The "You need a newer version … blah blah … contact the developer" message is displayed.

What has changed and what needs to be done if it's not a bug on Apple's side?

Electric Sheep works.

It (version 3.0.2) doesn't work here. I'm talking about the screen saver plugin not the standalone application.

I double checked. It does say it doesn't work but I have a hot corner set to start it from there and that still works. I imigine Electric Sheep will have to be updated. You could try reinstalling it.

I am using xscreensavers group and they work fine. Imac 5k, late 2014

Indeed, the problem seems to be limited only to:

- the thumbnail preview not working

- the inability to press the Preview button

- the inability to change the Screen Saver settings.

Without any error logs in the console or system.log about this, this is not going to be easy to figure out where the problem lies.

Even building a new screen saver plugin using Xcode 10 on macOS Mojave does not produce a screen saver that "works". So this looks like a bug in System Preferences.app (or the frameworks, or the OS).
