How many people applied for the scholarship this year?

Some people in my school says there were about 1000 people last year, but I think it is just an estimation...

Last year, someone was throwing around a number like 1500-1750. He then said this was at least twice as much as the year before (2015). I think, the fact that there was a lot of media attention for it this years (and last years) scholarship, and also making it easier for someone to apply, that the number of applicants is certainly higher than last year's, and probably will be around the 3-4K. Note this is just my personal estimation.

I think the change-up from app to playground may have slowed participation a bit this time around...
