On vision pro, what is the max walkable distance in unbounded passthrough mode?

In passthrough mode on the Vision Pro, what is the maximum distance one can walk from the origin while keeping stable tracking?

Anyone? Is there a limit, or is it boundless? This is a pretty important thing to know.

Does it matter since an immersive space allows only 1.5 meter boundary? https://developer.apple.com/documentation/visionos/creating-fully-immersive-experiences

  • @mike_at_helium The title and first post refer to passthrough mode.

  • What exactly do you mean by passthrough mode? Passthrough is always on. You asked about stable tracking. Did you mean something other than ARKit?

  • I’m not sure you’re the person to answer if you do not know the difference between the various immersive modes. No, passthrough (video of the real world) is not always on. No, not every mode is same. Each has different limits. @mike_at_helium I am hoping someone from the team can speak to the tracking limits in the mode that doesn’t have the ~1.5m limit.

To rephrase, in AR mode, you can walk around, is that correct? In VR mode, you are limited to the 1.5 for now. So for AR mode with the passthrough video on, in which that limit is not imposed, how far from the origin are you allowed to walk around? Is there a limit, or is it essentially boundless and the tracking will hold for arbitrary spaces, or is it limited to some maximum boundary based on tracking limits?
