Xcode 14 RC and iOS 15.7 won't prepare watch for development

After updating my iOS Device to 15.7, I can not do any dev work on its paired watch. I've tried restarting all devices, tried Xcode 13.4.1, and nothing.

Xcode cycles between after several minute intervals "Preparing watch for development" to "waiting for first unlock" (the watch has been locked and unlocked several times to "Loading meta data from watch"

Is anyone else having this issue? Do I need to wait for an Xcode update from Apple?

This was resolved with the Xcode 14.0.1 RC, published last week. I provided an update in another forums thread, but forgot to do so here, sorry about that!

Having a similar issue with Xcode 14 release from the App Store. It shows something about watch metadata, then stops after failing to prepare the phone (says the OS version is not compatible).

We are aware of the issue. The Xcode 14 Release notes are updated with a workaround:

Xcode 14 cannot be used with iOS 15.7 for development. (99847608) Workaround: Use Xcode 13.4.1 with iOS 15.7.

I'm having this problem too. The problem with the workaround is that if I want to pair my watch to my phone the phone has to be updated to iOS 16 and for Xcode to work on iOS 16 it needs to be updated to Xcode 14.

Do you have any idea of when this issue will be resolved?
