I have a MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012) which version of xCode is compatible with my device? How can I download it because the version available now in the App Store is not compatible with my device.

With macOs Catalina version 10.15.7, you can download Xcode 12.4.

xcodereleases.com also shows all versions available for an OS.

You should be able to upgrade to BigSur (MacOS 11) and then download Xcode 13.2.1
