MusicPropertySource.library not on macOS?

Hello,

MusicPropertySource.catalog says it is available in the docs on macOS, but .library is not. Is that an oversight? How does this integrate with current uses of iTunesMusicLibrary framework and ITLibrary?

Thank you, -- Greg Bolsinga

Hello @Bolsinga,

We are not able to talk about future plans on developer forums. We only talk about what is already available in shipping or beta versions of our Apple platform operating systems.

Please check out this other thread with more context about new features of MusicKit announced at WWDC22 and how that relates to the matter of compatibility with macOS.

Best regards,

Hi Greg,

Thank you for the question! This is actually exposed as intended. MusicLibrary as well as its requests are not available on macOS Ventura, and as a result, the MusicPropertySource’s .library case is also not available.

Thank you for your feedback! If you’d like to see this feature enabled for macOS, please consider filing an enhancement request in Feedback Assistant, and tell us a little bit more about your use-case and how you intend to use such an API on macOS.

Thanks for your response, David. I have more questions. Are there plans to have MusicLibrary "sit on top of" iTunesMusicLibrary? Alternately, is there a plan to have iTunesMusicLibrary return MusicKit types for Swift?

Thank you, Greg
