There is not enough disk space available to install the product. XCode

I have 42.84 GB of free space available yet the App Store is not letting me install XCode. Please help.

System Specs:

macOS Big Sur V11.5.2

MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017)

Processor 2.2 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7

Memory 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Startup Disk Macintosh HD - Data

Graphics Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB

Do you try to install Xcode 13 ?

42 GB may be just a bit too limited. Usually, 50 GB may be needed (because there are a lot of large temporary files in the process).

  • 31.58 GB for the app itself
  • 12 GB for the zipped file
  • some more may be needed during installation.

You could try to download directly here : https://developer.apple.com/download/more/

42.84 GB seems to be too small to install recent Xcode from Mac App Store. I removed many unneeded files and made more than 50 GB to install Xcode 13.

If you have some external storage device, download Xcode.xip into the device and try expanding it.

More Downloads

This is by no means a good answer but I was able to resolve it after restarting my computer multiple times... Simply turn it off and back on again, sign into app store again and download...
