CarPlay not recognizing voice commands

Ever since I updated to 14.4 CarPlay is not recognizing voice commands. It’s not the USB cable and it’s not my vehicle’s firmware. I tried an iPhone that had not updated yet and it works fine. I checked all Siri settings and all is set correctly - Hey Siri works fine when not connected to the car. Help!!!

I am having the same issue with 14.5. I am not able to use the carplay interface. My phone connnects and BT/Siri work. I am just not able to use the native interface. I did see in the notes that there is a known issue if contacts are shred via carplay, but I can't find how/where to turn that off to check.
