Software Update does not work on Developer Transition Kit (DTK)

Hi there,

We have been unable to update Big Sur on our DTK unit, hasn't completed Software Update successfully since we got it. We have run the latest Beta Access Utility (again) from the Universal program download page, and it's currently trying to install Big Sur 11.0.1 RC 2, but it appears to be frozen at the same place (the progress bar is at ~20%) it froze every other time we attempted to run an update available in Software Update. Doesn't matter if we let it run overnight, it never completes.

What to do? How to test the latest Big Sur RC 2 on the DTK? At this point I think my only option is to force reboot, give up, and test on whatever version of Big Sur shipped on this guy (build number seems to correspond with Beta 3).

You need to restore the device using the instructions provided to you as part of the Universal App Quick Start Program. For more follow-up, please use the forums dedicated to the program, which you can access from the menu by clicking on your avatar icon.

Hi @edford, thank you. I ought to have added "I'm going to follow the Restore instructions next", I have those. I posted here hoping there was an easier and less time consuming way to fix the issue.
