I've posted a few threads, and there are replies, but I don't get any sort of notification about them - no email, no Safari push notification, not even a badge or location to check notifications if I log into the forums.

There’s no mechanism to notify you of new posts on a ‘watched’ thread )-: I generally just bookmark the thread and periodically click that bookmark.
ps Normally I’d have you file an enhancement request for the features you want but in this case I can assure you that the folks who run DevForums fully understand this problem )-:
