Apple watch can’t pair with iPhone

I have a 1.generation Apple watch. I didn’t use it for a while, it is unpaired so I Don’t know which software it has. When I try to pair it with my iPhone it say: I need to update my IPhone first. But my iPhone is up to date!! What can I do now? How can I pair my watch with my phone?

Same here! I also have a first generation watch. My phone is updated to 13.6 and my watch is like 5.6. i have gone through pairing the devices again and i always get to a dead end that says "software up to date" then it doesn't not allow me to continue with pairing. i am a nurse and greatly need my watch. please help
