Downloading Xcode?

Hi, I want to learn how to code an app and I heard Xcode/Swift is a good first go to app. I tried to download it and had some trouble because the App Store said I needed macOS version 10.15.2 or older. However my 2017 Macbook Air won't let me update it and is currently at version 10.13.6. Advice?

2017 Macbook Air is listed in the supported hardware of the latest macOS 10.15 Catalina

macOS Catalina is compatible with these computers

You can upgrade your Mac to Catalina in App Store for free.
Upgrade your Mac to the latest macOS, and then you can install Xcode from App Store.

As OOPer said before, you need to download the Catalina upgrade from the App Store. This can usually be found on the front page of the App Store or by searching for it.
