Will NFC invoke an app clip on older devices?

Hello all,

Just finished ingesting the new app clip material and I'm excited about the possibilities.

Does anyone know if the NFC invocation method will work on devices older than an iPhone 11? Previous to iOS 14, older devices were only able to interact with NFC via a supporting app.

Hi,

In iOS 14 there is an NFC reader in Control Center on iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. The NFC reader is visible by default when you open Control Center, and it supports app clips.

Will this new NFC reader capability in iOS 14 permit so-called background NFC invocation in these older phones?

I have the iPhone X, and I have noticed that it is not showing the App Clip via background NFC scanning. On the iPhone 11, my App Clip showed on tap.

Devices older than iPhone X need to me scanned via the NFC reader in the Command Center, and it loads the App Clip.
