How do you perform a restore image without iTunes?

Now that iTunes is no longer always available, how does one perform a restore image (eg, to replace a beta OS with a released version) of iOS on an iPhone?

All of the documentation on this topic that I've seen says that it is done with iTunes. What are you supposed to do if you don't have iTunes?

This should exist in Finder now.

Open Finder and look at the sidebar. You should see entries for any devices you have connected. If you click on that, you should see similar restore options to what you had in iTunes previously.
